On July 6 and 9, 2022, we will be celebrating the 65th anniversary of the day that John Lennon met Paul McCartney in St Peter’s Church Hall and the Lennon-McCartney partnership began!
July 6, 2022
65 years ago, the Quarrymen were invited to perform at St Peter’s Church fete because, as it does now, the Church wanted to give its young people a chance and make sure that they felt welcome and included. So, rather than host a concert on the 65th anniversary of the day that John met Paul (the concert will be on Saturday!), all our events are aimed to be as welcoming and inclusive as they were back on that historic and ‘fateful’ day.!
On July 6, 2022, the Church Hall will be open to visitors throughout the day and during the evening — from 10am to 10pm! All events on July 6 are FREE, and there might be a few treats for everyone who can join us.
The highlight during the day will be a special Beatle-themed singalong, starting at 10.30am, and led by the wonderful Norma! These events have been hugely popular in the past and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate.
OPEN MIC AT ST PETER’S: YOUR CHANCE TO RECREATE HISTORY!
Research suggests that Paul’s ‘audition’ for John took place between about 6.50pm and 7pm in the evening and the Hall will be open at that time for anyone who wants to join us to celebrate the 65th anniversary of that historic moment. Afterwards, we’ll be hosting an Open Mic event in the hall and everyone is welcome! Whether you’re a professional musician or a tone-deaf amateur, you’re just as welcome!

6.30pm – The Quarrymen in Concert
We are running a waiting list for any returned tickets. If you’d like to be added to the waiting list, please email us at email@example.com.
On Saturday July 9, we are delighted and privileged to announce that the Quarrymen will be performing in the Church Hall, just as they did 65 years ago. The Quarrymen will be supported by The Shakers, the Cavern’s resident Merseybeat group and leading exponents of the original Mersey Sound today! In addition to three sets of live music, the ticket price includes a buffet, with both savoury and sweet finger food and nibbles. Following the format of the highly successful “Celebration of Community” dance held on July 7, 2017, all guests are welcome to bring their own drinks! Doors open at 6.30pm.
Only 65 tickets, priced at £30 each, will be available and will be on sale from 11am on Monday November 15 HERE:
A splendid time is guaranteed for all, and we do hope that you will join us as we celebrate the 65th anniversary of the day that John met Paul and the Beatles began!
