According to the Devereux database museum of Liverpool Pierhead and Service Papers. Stanley born 1894 enlisted 31st August 1914 in the 6th Battalion Kings Liverpool (Rifles) aged 19 years and 10 months height 5′ 8″ living at 25 Dundonald St Aigburth later Higher Rd Hunts Cross Sailed to France from Southampton 24th February 1915 on the SS Edinburgh. Promoted to Corporal 17th July 1916.

Stanley was wounded in action 9th September 1916 (SW right leg) . Admitted to 15 Corps Main Dressing Station , Then to 36 Casualty Clearing Station 10th September 1916, Then No 3 Stationary Hospital 11th September 1916 where his right leg was amputated. On 12th September 1916 Stanley was evacuated to England on the H S Western Australia to the 5th London General Hospital Lambeth where he died at 2:30am , Septic Embolism , Haemorrhage lungs.

Corporal Stanley Jones MM buried with Full Military Honours on October 25th 1916 aged 21 at Halewood Church(St Nicholas ).
