Private George Henry Haigh born in Woolton on 23rd May 1888 and baptized 5th August 1888 in St Peter’s Woolton with 5 other children.

In 1901 was living with Father also called George and Mother Annie L (Annie Lousia maiden name Fenn) With brother Edmund aged 14 and sister Annie L aged 9 (same as mother) and brother in Law George A Grace. Family living at The Gardens (Highfield) (Acrefield Rd)

In 1911 George is employed as Assistant Gardener Domestic at The Bothy Royal Gardens Winsor Berks.

George is remembered in the (WW1) War Service Roll of members of The Royal Households and Estates of the King and Queen. (Royal Windsor Gardens)

According to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission served in the 2nd RM Bn R.N Div.. Royal Marine Light Infanty serial No PO/1752(S) and died on the 26th October 1917 aged 29. Son of George and Annie Louisa Haigh of Holly Cottage Allerton Rd Woolton.
