George Henry Haigh

Private George Henry Haigh was born in Woolton on 5th August 1889.

In 1901 was living with Father also called George and Mother Annie L (Annie Lousia maiden name Fenn) With brother Edmund aged 14 and sister Annie L aged 9 (same as mother) and brother in Law George A Grace. Family living at The Gardens (Highfield) (Acrefield Rd)

In 1911 George is employed as Assistant Gardener Domestic at The Bothy Royal Gardens Winsor Berks.

George is remembered in the (WW1) War Service Roll of members of The Royal Households and Estates of the King and Queen. (Royal Windsor Gardens) Joined 30th November 1916 1st and 2nd Batt ., Royal Marines killed at Passchendaele (3rd Battle of Ypres). on 26th October 1917.

Private George Henry Haigh served in the 2nd RM Bn R.N Div.. Royal Marine Light Infanty serial No PO/1752(S) and died on the 26th October 1917 aged 29.
