Edward Southern born 5/3/1882 baptized 1/10/1882 with brother Robert  (Robert born 30/3/1880). At St Margaret’s Church Anfield. Father Thomas quarryman, mother Annie (nee Byrom).

Mother Annie  married 3 times. 1st. Marriage  to Thomas Southern.  25th February 1868 St Nicholas Church Halewood.  Thomas Southern died 1889. 2nd. marriage to George Webb cannot prove marriage, On 1901 census George Webb and Annie Webb  with 3 Southern Children. 3rd Marriage to William Peter Roberts 16th November 1912 at St Augustine Church Everton.& Roberts on  brother Joseph CWGC record                                            

Edward Southern married Margaret Rebecca Parry 1906 at Peters Church Woolton.

Edward age 31 a brewers laborer in 1911 living with mother Annie Webb a Widow,  wife Rebecca Margaret age 31 (daughter in Law to Annie) son Adam age 4 , son Joseph age 19,and Lodger Henry Roberts age 30. Family living 44 Castle St Woolton

  According to the Commonwealth war Graves Trooper (Private) Edward Southern. Son of Thomas and Annie Southern, Husband of Rebecca Southern living at 55 Cobden St Woolton.

Edward educated at St Peters C of E School Woolton . Enlisted October 1899 and served in the South African War  1899-1902 . ( Received the Queens medal with 2 clasps) After discharge joined the Reserve 1904 , Called up in 5th August 1914. Edward was wounded during the retreat from Mons. Edward was invalided home. Returned to the front October 1915. Edward died 15th February 1916 in Endell St Military Hospital Covent Garden London as a result of being gassed

Trooper Edward Southern serial number R/4736 and served 19th Queens Alexander Own Royal Hussars. Died 15th February 1916 aged 36

Trooper Edward Southern was buried with Full military Honours and is Remembered with Honour Kelsal Green Cemetery
